Hi,

The error code 0xc80003fA your receiving is hrReadVerifyFailure which means
it may have not been able to write to the Softwaredistribution folder.

Here are the steps to follow to resolve this issue:

The steps are broken in to 4 parts.

Step 1
First you will have to rename the SoftwareDistribution directory which is
located in the windows folder.

Click Start ->Run
Type "Services.msc" (without quotes)
Press OK
Find "Automatic Update" (Service)
Stop the service.

Step 2
Rename the "SoftwareDistribution" directory to "SDOLD". The directory is
located in the c:\Windows ( or C:\WINNT ) directory

Step 3
Restart the Automatic Update service
Click Start >Run
Type "Services.msc" (without quotes)
Press OK
Find "Automatic Update"
Start the service.

Step 4
Clearing the browser's cache (Internet Explorer)
Click Tools -> Internet Options
In the "Temporary Internet Files" section, click "Delete Cookies"
Click "Delete Files" click "Delete all offline content" click OK
In the "History" section, click "Clear History".
Click "OK".

Restart your computer.

Please let me know if these steps help in resolving your issue.

Thank You,

Harish.G

This did not solve my problem. This is a fresh install of XP SP1, and I'm
getting the same error, no matter how many times I try the process mentioned.
Can anyone help?
